The Hygiena® Automated Thermal Block

The Hygiena Automated Thermal Block is a programmable heating block engineered for automated lysis in food safety laboratory workflows. This digital thermal block processes up to 96 samples per cycle, replacing manual lab heat block transfers with walk-away automation. Four pre-programmed protocols optimize BAX® System assays targeting Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli, and other pathogens. Peltier-driven solid-state technology delivers thermal control from -10 to 110 °C with ±1 °C accuracy. Samples are automatically held at 4 °C upon completion, preserving lysate integrity for flexible workflow timing.

The Automated Thermal Block is a solid-state device designed with minimal moving parts for long-term reliability. It is pre-programmed with four protocols (Gram Positive, Gram Negative, 24E, RT Listeria) to automate lysis steps in BAX® assays. The system automatically manages temperature transitions and holds samples at 4 °C post-lysis, eliminating manual sample transfer and reducing contamination risks.
